A short walk along a dirt path will lead you on to the banks of the river, where you will be provided with river dungarees with boots (the water temperature is 9 degrees Celsius) and you will begin the trek by walking inside the riverbed, and crossing the waterfalls. A trek where one can truly appreciate the rugged and wild beauty of Mount Etna, as well as the majesty of the Valle del Bove. Accompanied by guide Gianfranco, you will depart from a refuge on the east side of Etna, following a real circular route. You will hike through a forest of Birch Aetnensis until reaching the ‘Grotta di Serracozzo,’ a lava flow tunnel formed in 1971 during an eruption that nearly reached the town of Fornazzo. From there, you will ascend to the northern ridge of the immense and deserted Valle del Bove. After reaching the highest point of our trek at 2200 meters above sea level, at Rocca della Valle, facing the summit craters, you will descend towards the refuge. The excursion may be subject to changes at the discretion of the Guide or may be interrupted if environmental, atmospheric, or volcanic conditions change to compromise the safety of the entire group.

The total duration of the trek will depend on the pace. The excursion will adhere to the limits set by current ordinances. Suitable for children over 7 years of age. This itinerary is suitable for individuals in good physical health without specific pathologies (cardiovascular, respiratory, or hypertension). To ensure the success of the excursion and the safety of all participants, it is advisable to be fully aware of your health conditions and communicate them to the Guide if necessary, to minimize potential problems and risks.”
